We decided to create MOXX in France after several years in traveling overseas. We were faced to the unfortunately usual question : Will I use my data roaming plan from my operator, how much it will cost me? is it easy to find safe wi-fi in ?
We tried lots of options from using those expensive (exorbitant I should say) roaming charges, to sim card switch with local sim cards and you know that’s a pain when you have several devices with you. We usually tried to avoid using Free wifi because now more and more hack schemes emerge around it. Finally, we found a pocket wifi rental in Japan and we decided to launch the same service in France: to make it easier, cheaper but safer to stay connected in France for international travelers.
So we mixed the experience of the 3 co-founders ( 1 ex-expatriate, 1 Customer service specialist and 1 telecommunication engineer) to bring a solution dedicated to 2015 travelers: Unlimited (because you don’t want to worry about the data consummation), secure, affordable, and of course hassle free delivery and return options.
A while ago we had a client who rented our devices for an emergency business use during an exhibition her company was attending in Paris. It seems the organizers didn’t inform her beforehand that her booth would be placed in a space below the ground level and she intended to use their data roaming connection. Her connection didn’t work properly so she called us in panic, asking if we can deliver an urgent solution for her team. We drove fast to the location, installed our devices with an additional antenna and saved the day in less than 1,5 hours. She even got to share the connection with an unfortunate neighbor, an exhibitor who had a regular data contract, practically useless at that location!
First of all, MOXX is dedicated to travelers, and it’s our main concern is to adapt our service to their needs: Our customers are planning their trip and arriving in France 7 days a week so we are able to answer and deliver all week round.
Secondly we are locally based, sometime people prefer to bring with them a MiFi from their origin country but if they encounter any troubleshooting with it their provider will not be able to help them from USA or UK.
Last but not least we provide a direct connection to the most advanced 4G mobile network in France and with the largest nationwide coverage. Our users get “priority access” to the network in very busy/crowded places due to our special partnership agreement (Bouygues http://www.zdnet.fr/services/4g-monitor/).
For 2015 we are implementing several partnerships with different tourism authorities in France and especially in Paris Region that attract more than 80% of the tourist in France booth for business and leisure.
One of the most important things is the service. We know lots of company in France are still working with office hours and days but for the travelers the time scale is different. When you visit a country like France you don’t want to wait until the next business day to get a reply or technical support.
In 2015 Paris will host the biannual Paris AirShow and it worth a visit for all Aerospace and lovers ! This year for the 51st edition more than 150 aircraft will perform during flying display and exhibition, not to mention that the Air & Space Museum is just in walking distance of the exhibition.
There are also two new main attractions in Paris: The already famous Fondation Louis Vuitton, dedicated to contemporary art and the building itself is a piece of art from Frank Ghery and the controversial Philharmonic, this one will boost classical music in Paris and make it more accessible to the public. By coincidence both are located in Paris’s huge parks: Bois de Boulogne for the LV Foundation and Parc de la Vilette and the revamped North East area.
